CHIANG RAI
Half Day and Full Day Excursions in Chiang Rai
HALF DAY EXCURSIONS

Tour Code: HDCRKM        Doi Tung King’s Mother Project
The Doi Tung Development Project is dedicated to the well-being and improvement of the lives of the Thai people.
Nestled in the hills of northwestern Thailand, the area was suffering from deforestation-- destruction of the forests
due to logging, slash and burn agriculture and the illegal cultivation of opium. The area was desperately poor,
populated mainly by underprivileged tribal groups. A multi-pronged strategy was needed to create jobs, opportunity
and restoration of the forest environment.  The project began in 1988 with the establishment of the Doi Tung
Agricultural Extension Center to provide training and experimentation with alternative agricultural practices. Here,
you can enjoy watching the making of carpets and quilts, smell the enticing aroma of a coffee-roaster and see the
Mulberry Paper Mill producing special stationery.
